** There was an internal, station mixup in the printed survey this week.
During this time, many stations created an "internal" playlist, usually
containing far less songs than the public, printed survey, for the DJs to
work off of. This was done mostly to reflect hits "on the way down", that
were still selling, but were showing signs of "listener fatigue/burn", which
Top 40 radio always tried to stay a step ahead of, to always sound "fresh".
This week, it appears that this 40-song internal list was somehow published
by WDRC in error. Much of its data is not compatible with the public,
printed info. What I've chosen to do is to try to rebuild/keep this week's
info as "apples to apples" against previous & future weeks info, using the
10/28/68 "last week" info. Further, in the "notes" section, I've included
the "internal chart" number, for anyone curious. **
